How To Choose The Right Classroom Projectors For Your School

Classroom projectors need to be chosen with several considerations in mind which would not necessarily apply in other cases. The most important of these is safety, and although this needs to be considered with every projector it needs to be considered more than ever when you have hordes of boisterous children potentially knocking and shaking the equipment on a regular basis. The projector either needs to be mounted, or else it needs to be portable enough to move in and out of the room as needed. This will also help to guard it against theft.

If a projector is left with trailing wires in a classroom situation, it is almost certain that at some time there will be an accident with someone tripping over them. This may happen through typical juvenile carelessness, or it may happen just in the normal course of people moving around. There are now wireless projectors which can at least remove this possibility, but the equipment will still be vulnerable. It is best to either mount it or remove it completely when it is not being used.

Apart from safety considerations, there is also the importance of the picture being visible at all distances and all angles. Not all of the children in the room will be sitting directly in front of the screen, so there needs to be an absence of unwanted light affecting anyone's view. It is never practical to completely darken a classroom, so you need to make sure that the screen is visible from all angles. The best part of this is having a screen with no glare, but making sure the bulb is bright enough is important as well.

Anti-theft devices are sadly necessary for any projector stored in an educational establishment, and these are becoming more sophisticated. One other good reason for mounting the projector on a ceiling is that it can be encased within a protection cage which will normally be difficult to overcome. Only if the potential thief has extended access to the building with a ladder and tools will the projector be under threat. Beyond this, you can get projectors with built in movement alarms which will make it extremely difficult to move the device, and PIN code security to prevent the stolen projector being used.

Buying classroom projectors should really be left to someone who has some understanding and knowledge of the projector industry, because there are choices to be made regarding format and design. LCD projectors have traditionally been used in schools, and there is good reason why they remain popular. However, DLP models are falling in price, and will usually give a better picture. Bulb brightness is also something which needs to fit the individual situation, and so should be chosen by someone with experience of classroom projectors.
